1. Privacy First Philosophy
Tab Countdown is built with a privacy-first approach. We believe that your browsing behavior, usage statistics, and personal choices are your own. The extension does not track you, does not show ads, and does not send any of your browsing data to external servers or third parties.
2. Data Collection and Usage
The extension collects and utilizes the following data locally within your browser:
- User Rules: Rules and configurations you create to manage domain or URL countdown lengths. These are synced across your logged-in Google Chrome browsers using
chrome.storage.syncif browser sync is enabled. - Active & Paused Countdowns: The remaining duration, start times, and URLs for tabs currently undergoing countdowns to maintain operational consistency across browser updates.
- Focus Statistics: Active tab durations, visit counts, and timer extension clicks. This information is used strictly to suggest countdown rule improvements (e.g. suggesting adding rules for high-visit sites or raising limits for frequently extended rules).
3. Third-Party Disclosures
We do not transmit, sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to external parties. There is no background tracking server, external database, or analytics integration (such as Google Analytics) inside the extension code.
4. Chrome Permissions Used
To provide its core functionality, Tab Countdown requests access to the following browser permissions:
- storage: Required to securely store rule settings, user options, and local statistics on your device.
- tabs: Required to monitor active tab URLs and titles so countdowns can trigger accurately and display page titles as rule labels.
- alarms: Required to run countdown clocks reliably in the background without draining system resources.
- <all_urls> (Host Permission): Required to dynamically render the in-page warning banner and the live countdown corner widget directly inside matching pages.
5. Your Rights and Control
You have full control over the extension data. You can clear all rules, options, and usage statistics at any time by:
- Uninstalling the Tab Countdown extension from Chrome.
- Clearing the extension storage via Chrome Developer Tools.
- Using the "Clear all rules" or "Reset statistics" controls inside the Options page settings.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to align with new features or store listing regulations. Any modifications will be updated directly on this page.
7. Contact Support
If you have any questions or feedback regarding this Privacy Policy or the security of your data, please contact the developer via the official extension listing page support channels.
